Owen Sound Couple Arrested After Purse Theft

A man and a woman are facing charges after a smash and grab theft in Owen Sound.

The Owen Sound Police Service says on Tuesday around 6:20am, someone broke into a 2013 Hyundai Sante Fe by smashing the passenger side window, while the vehicle was parked at the YMCA at 700 10th St. E.  A purse was reported stolen by the owner.

Police later found out that the victim's stolen credit and debit cards were used to make purchases at various locations in downtown Owen Sound. As a result, officers were able to track down two suspects and arrest them.

A 28-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, who are both from Owen Sound, have been charged with possession of stolen property and several counts of using a stolen credit card.  They will appear in court in Owen Sound on November 30.
