The Wiarton Business Improvement Area is being kept alive by South Bruce Peninsula council.
Three new members have been appointed to serve on the BIA's board of management, after council was faced with either advertising for new members, or shutting down the BIA.
The Wiarton BIA has not met since June due to a lack of quorum, after three members resigned following a failed vote to disband the BIA.
Councillor Matt Jackson is a council representative on the board and says he's optimistic the new-look board will be committed to seeing the BIA continue on.
"I'm committed to seeing the BIA move forward and prosper and succeed, so I'm sure that will be the will and the wishes of everyone," says Jackson. "I look forward to getting to know all the members and seeing how the team works together."
If disbanding becomes a topic again for the BIA, Jackson says he will be submitting his resignation from the board.
"Certainly I'm committed to seeing the BIA succeed and move forward, that said, if there's a will of the majority to see the BIA wrapped up and wound down, I'm not likely going to be longer sitting as a member of the board," says Jackson.
If the BIA were to be shut down, Jackson says life would go on, but it would greatly hamper the municipality's ability to raise funds for downtown projects.
