The chief administrative officer clerk for the Township of Mapleton has resigned.
CAO Clerk Brad McRoberts submitted his resignation so he could focus on his family and their needs.
He has been hired by South Bruce Peninsula council and begins his job Monday, November 20.
“I want to thank the council, staff and the Township of Mapleton for the opportunities they have provided me both in my current and former positions," says McRoberts. "Based upon conversations with my peers, this council is one of the best councils in Ontario. This, in combination with a great staff and community, made this decision very difficult but I must place a greater priority on my family and their needs.”
Mapleton Mayor Neil Driscoll says the township regrets the loss of McRoberts, but respects his decision. Driscoll says he is proud to have worked so closely which such a dedicated and caring employee.
McRoberts lead the reconstruction of the new municipal maintenance facility, advanced water and wastewater capacity solutions, and developed multi-year capital needs forecasts.
McRoberts returns to the Town of South Bruce Peninsula after a ten-year absence.
As a professional engineer, he worked as manager of Public Works for the town but departed to gain his Masters of Public Administration at the University of Western Ontario.
“After an extensive recruitment process, council is thrilled to welcome Brad to our staff team at the town, he is a proven leader and will help ensure our community is positioned for success," says Mayor Janice Jackson. “Brad recognizes the opportunities in South Bruce Peninsula and will help us be more effective and efficient as we move forward.”
McRoberts went on to work as chief administrative officer for Mapleton Township, before deciding to return to his hometown.
“The Bruce Peninsula is home for me and I am excited to begin working as a member of the Town of South Bruce Peninsula leadership team,” says McRoberts. “The town is positioned uniquely in the region and I am excited to strategically support the town to take advantage of those opportunities."
