Owen Sound Celebrates Salmon Sunday

The Salmon Celebration takes place at Owen Sound's Mill Dam and Fish Ladder Sunday.

The event features live music, salmon tasting, and interpretation of the salmon migration.

Chef Zach Keeshig and students from Georgian College's culinary program will prepare fresh salmon provided by the Sydenham Sportsmen’s Association.

People can try popcorn salmon with cranberry ketchup, or smoked salmon with foraged greens.

Guides from At Last Adventures and the Grey Sauble Conservation Authority and Foundation will be on hand at the Salmon Celebration to help interpret this fascinating rite of passage. Salmon are one of the few fish that spawn only once, then die in the act of creating new life.

The Salmon Celebration is one of the highlights of the Owen Sound Salmon Tour, a self-guided eco-tour following the salmon up the Sydenham River from the harbour to Inglis Falls.

Hours are from 10am to 3pm, and there is parking at the Bruce Grey Child and Family Services Lot on 2nd Ave. E.
