Huron County Financials In Good Shape

Huron County is expected to have a surplus of just over $350,000 this year.

Huron County Treasurer Michael Blumhagen says the surplus is a little inflated right now because of the timing of expenditures.

He also wants to run down the numbers more frequently so Huron County council doesn't get any surprises when the budget process starts.

“So it's approximately $1.4-million today, however based on the analysis of our numbers that is really subject to timing of our expenditures relative to how we budget," says Blemhagen. "So last year we were in a similar position we ended up with an overall surplus of about $353,000.”

Overall, the finanical numbers for Huron are similar to last year.
