Perth Wellington MP To Fight Business Tax Changes

The MP for Perth Wellington welcomes a chance to return to the House of Commons.

John Nater says it has been a busy summer meeting with business owners, physicians, farmers, seniors, tradespeople, arts and media representatives.

He says he's eager to share their views and fight for their interests during the fall sessions. He says many have expressed concern with the proposal to end tax loopholes for certain businesses.

He says small business owners work hard and collectively employ thousands in the region.

He suggests that the proposed tax changes will put many businesses in Perth and Wellington at risk.

Nater will also begin his position as Official Opposition Shadow Secretary for Interprovincial Trade and the Share Economy.

He says sometimes it's easier to export products to another country than to a neighbouring province, such as bringing beer across provincial borders.

“This Liberal government seems to think all small business owners are incredibly wealthy and use their businesses as tax shelters. In Perth—Wellington, and across Canada, this is simply not true. The vast majority of small business owners are middle-class families with family-run businesses,” says Nater. "In this new role I will advocate for reduced trade barriers within Canada and work to make running a small business in Canada easier."
