The province has confirmed support for Hanover and District Hospital to move forward with using its own funds to install the new computed tomography (CT) scanner.
The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care sent a letter of approval to Board of Governors Chair Dave Cardwell, to allow the hospital to proceed with the project. The next stages include room renovations and overall program design for the CT scanner.
“This scanner will improve patient care for everyone in the region, and reduce overall costs for the hospital,” says Katrina Wilson, president and CEO at the hospital. “Patients at HDH will no longer need to be transported to another hospital for CT service, saving patients time and hardship. Plus, those transportation savings can be redirected back into direct patient care.”
The application for purchase and installation of the scanner followed a huge $1.5-million donation from Henry and Barb Lansink.
