A highly experienced health care consultant says Grey County has the opportunity to forge a top notch local long term health care system.
Grey Highland's Jim Harrold addressed Grey County Council on the issue Thursday.
He says what's needed is an integrated system that recognizes the needs and desires of an aging population.
"Integrated means that you try to break down the walls between the different ways that health care is provided because right now you go to different organizations, they have different processes they aren't necessarily built around the needs or the perspectives of the individual," says Harrold.
He says the focus needs to be on home care, self care and community care. Harrold would like to see a comprehensive long term health strategy in Grey County's official plan.
