Owen Sound Home Robbed While Family In Backyard

Police are looking for suspects after an Owen Sound home was broken into while the owners were in the backyard.

The Owen Sound Police Service says on Monday between 10:30am and 11:30am, thieves gained entry from the side garage door of the home, which is located near Greenwood Cemetery, and stole jewelry out of the family bedrooms.

A vehicle believed to be involved is described as being a dark grey or black, a sedan-sized Volkswagen or Mazda. The vehicle may not have a front licence plate.

Another resident reported a similar vehicle in the neighbourhood of 5th St. at around 11am-11:15am. A woman was seen getting out of the car while the driver remained in the vehicle. She walked a short distance down the road and then return minutes later.

She then knocked on a home’s front and side doors and when it was apparent she was unable to gain entry, the two left in the vehicle.

A woman seen nearby who is believed to connected to the break-in is described as being Caucasian, in her mid to late 30s, with long straight dark hair, and average height and build.

Owen Sound police are reminding residents to lock their doors, even when they are home. Anyone who witnesses suspicious activity in their neighbourhood is encouraged to call police immediately.
