Two Hospitalized After Dirt Bike Strikes Pedestrian In Wiarton

Two South Bruce Peninsula men have been seriously injured after a dirt bike struck a pedestrian Thursday night.

An OPP report indicates the dirt bike was traveling west on Elm St. in Wiarton around 10:20pm when the driver lost control and struck the pedestrian.

The 81-year-old male pedestrian, and the 22-year-old man operating the dirt bike, suffered major injuries.

Bruce Peninsula OPP, Bruce County Emergency Services, Grey County Emergency Services, and Town of South Bruce Peninsula Fire Department responded.

Both victims were transported by ambulance to a local hospital and both were airlifted to hospitals in Toronto for treatment of life threatening injuries.

The dirt bike did not have lights and was not licensed for use on public roads.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit is assisting with the investigation.
