More International Students Head For Avon Maitland Schools

The Avon Maitland District School Board continues to be a popular educational and cultural destination for international students.

The program will host 230 international students for the coming school year.  Students from Germany, France, Spain, China, Japan, Brazil, Vietnam, Thailand, Italy and the Netherlands are among the countries whose students will be part of the school communities.

Most of the students will be attending one of the nine high school, along with a handful of students in Grades 7 and 8.

Many will study for three to four months, some will be remain until the end of January, and others will stay for the full school year.

The board continues to look for host families for the international students.

Families interested in providing homestay experiences for students should contact the Homestay Manager Diane Hahn at diane.hahn@ed.amdsb.ca or 519-527-0111 ext. 143.

Proceeds from international education revenue will be used to offset the cost of a trip for local students from across the district later in the school year.  Funds will also be used to help subsidize My Academy, a partnership with the Stratford Festival Theatre, for any student in the board who chooses to be part of the after school program.
