Two Stratford Students Earn Canada 150 Trip

Two students from Stratford Central Secondary School will be part of a group of 150 students from across the nation who earned an all expenses paid trip to Ottawa.

Anna Desak and Sarah Frank were selected after submitting projects that focus on what Canada can do to improve over the next 150 years.

Desak wrote an essay and created a piece of art with pen, called Destruction of US, about how bees are affected by neo-nics in Canada.

Frank called her video project, 36 Million Differences, in a push for inclusion.

150 youth ages 14-19 from across Canada came to Ottawa to present their recommendations, interpretations and opinions to His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor

General of Canada at the Canada 150&Me National Youth Forum, held Monday, June 26, 2017 at the National Gallery of Canada.

“Different ethnicities, races, sexualities, abilities, just inclusion in general and become more of one Canada,” she said. “We can all make a difference in including others in our day-to-day lives and

if we all did that we would have a different Canada.”
