Officials To Meet This Morning

Water levels in the Minto area were expected to stabilize overnight and the Minto Emergency Operation Centre is scheduled to meet again at 7am Saturday.

Public Works has been monitoring water and sewer flows and operations. Residents should continue to minimize use of these utilities where possible. Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health has been monitoring the situation.

Officials are urging extreme caution on all roads still be required due to the potential for undermining culverts, bridges, catch basins and roadways. It will be several days before all bridges and structures can be fully evaluated.

A boil water advisory has also been issued in Harriston as a precaution due to the extreme flooding in the area. Residents are advised to bring water to a boil for one minute, let the water cool, and then place it in clean containers.

The mayor has spoken to the Minister of Municipal Affairs Bill Mauro, and Town, County and Provincial staff has been in touch regarding access to relief programs.

The Township of North Huron continues to actively monitor potential flooding conditions along the Maitland River in Wingham.

The North Huron Emergency Control Group is expected to meet again at 8am.

The Maitland Valley Conservation Authority advises that the water in Wingham continues to rise and levels are expected to peak Saturday morning and Emergency Services and Public Works Staff are continuing to closely monitor river levels in the watershed and the Howson Dam.

A reception centre has been set up at the North Huron Wescast Community Complex at 99 Kerr Drive in Wingham and will remain open until the threat of flooding has ended.

North Huron continues to advise that all areas along the river, including parks and trails will be closed until noon on Saturday, June 24.
