UPDATE: Heat Warning Continues For Perth and Huron

It will be a hot one in Midwestern Ontario at least through Monday.

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the following areas:

  • Wingham - Blyth - Northern Huron County
  • Goderich - Bluewater - Southern Huron County
  • Listowel - Milverton - Northern Perth County
  • Stratford - Mitchell - Southern Perth County
Forecasters say hot and humid weather will persist through Monday, with temperatures expected to drop Tuesday. Temperature highs in the 30s are in the forecast with a humidex around 40 for Monday. Lows around 21 degrees Sunday night will mean little relief.

To protect yourself from the heat, stay in an air-conditioned area at midday, when the sun is typically the hottest. If there's no air conditioning in your home, find a shopping mall, a movie theater, a cooling centre or another place to get cool.

Drink plenty of water-based liquids, even if you're not thirsty.  Effects of heat illness include swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.

Never, ever leave animals or people in a parked car. Interior car temperatures can increase quickly in hot conditions and can be very dangerous.
