Huron Museum Offers Free Admission On International Museum Day

The Huron County Museum is celebrating International Museum Day on Thursday by offering free admission at both the museum and the Historic Gaol for the day.

Business Development Manager Erin Samuell says they're also hosting the grand opening of three new exhibits at the museum.

The first is Huron Pottery Unearthed which features the artifacts from the 1974 to 1976 archaeological dig of the Huron Pottery, which operated from 1852 until 1910 in Egmondville. The second is Huron County – the Dry Years, which is about prohibition in Huron County. The third features artifacts that members of the community have selected that have some special meaning to them.

Samuell says they'll also have pottery demonstrations from Tony of Patina's Studios of Bayfield and there will also be an opportunity for people to create their own pottery jewelry.

The museum will be open from 10am until 9pm with the grand openings starting at 7pm.

The Historic Gaol will be open from 10am until 4:30pm with free admission at both.
