Street Drug Education Sessions Planned In Bruce County

South Bruce OPP are offering two drug education session next week.

Sessions in Kincardine and Walkerton will help people learn about illegal street drugs, and the abuse of prescription drugs.

That includes drug identification, drug effects, paraphernalia, street lingo, and safety concerns.

Kincardine OPP Commander Dana Earley says just 2 mg of the prescription drug Fentanyl can be fatal. It is tasteless, and has no smell.

She says drug abuse has a negative impact on our communities, and she hopes the upcoming sessions will increase people's awareness.

Participants will have a chance to try Fatal Vision Goggles, which simulate impairment by alcohol or drugs.

The first session is at Walkerton District Community School on Wednesday May 3, and the second is at Kincardine District Secondary School May 4. Both start at 7pm.

The OPP Community Street Crime Unit, a Drug Recognition Expert and a pharmacist will be part of the presentation.
