Two Local Schools Part Of Skills Pilot Project

St. Mary's High School in Owen Sound is launching a pilot project to help students develop skills needed in a global economy.

The Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board is pleased to partner with the Ministry of Education to help revise current career studies courses.

St. Mary's is one of 28 high schools across the province. The school will help test new courses in financial literacy.

Walkerton District High School will be part of a pilot project for digital literacy.

Other schools will run test courses in entrepreneurship skills, and career and life planning.

Teacher feedback will be incorporated into the new curriculum design.

Education Minister Mitzie Hunter says the pilot will run through June to help develop the curriculum for the new course aimed at equipping students with the skills necessary to succeed in the rapidly changing and competitive economy.
