Traffic Light Decision Delayed For Blyth

Huron County councillors have decided to postpone making any changes to the intersection of London Rd. and County Rd. 25 at the southern outskirts of Blyth.

Village residents had asked that traffic lights be installed at the intersection because of the number of collisions that have occurred there.

But County Engineer Steve Lund looked at seven specific factors that determine the need for traffic lights and found they weren't justified at that intersection. The staff report recommended a four-way stop with a flashing light above the intersection.

Most councillors felt that vehicle and pedestrian traffic would increase at that intersection in the next year, once construction of the Cowbell Brewery was completed.

Lund also wanted to look at the seasonal increase in vehicular traffic at the intersection in the summer.

Council decided to wait another year and see what impact the new development has on that intersection.
