Kincardine Launching Sports Wall Of Fame

Kincardine is creating a Sports Wall of Fame at the Davidson Centre.

The wall would recognize teams, athletes and builders of all sports and athletics in Kincardine.

The recreation policy chair and the director of recreation will determine who meets the criteria for induction onto the wall in consultation with the sports community

Teams selected would have to have won a recognizable provincial, national or international championship, or have made a significant contribution to the history and heritage of sports in Kincardine.

An athlete will have to excel in one or more disciplines with distinction at a provincial, national or international level. And the builders category will recognize nominees with a long history of contributing to sports and athletics.

Submissions will be due April 1 in any given year, with an annual ceremony held the first Saturday of June.

After the first year, the number of inductees will be limited to five.

Council expects the money raised from the induction ceremony will help cover the cost of placing winners on the wall.
