Huron’s Warden Concerned Province Ignoring Rural Lens ConceptJanuary 12, 2017 4:14am
One issue that came up in several different discussions at Wednesday’s Huron County council meeting, was the amount of provincial legislation that is imposed on rural communities without having any relevance in those communities.
Warden Jim Ginn has been as vocal as anyone in trying to introduce the Rural Lens concept to provincial politicians and their staff, but admits so far the results have been disappointing.
Ginn points out the Rural Ontario Municipal Conference is coming up at the end of this month, and once again they’ll have opportunities to speak with ministers and their staff.
In the past, he says they listen, seem to understand and even agree, but then nothing changes.
Ginn also says the current government proved in the last election they could form the government without support from rural Ontario, so that clearly diminished the rural voice.
