Huron County Extends Consultation On Natural Heritage Plan

Huron County is extending the consultation period for its Natural Heritage Plan.

Planner Susanna Reid explains the plan was presented to council last September and two public consultation meetings were held in October.

Reid says one of the comments that has bee heard frequently from the public was that more consultation was required and the meetings need to be promoted better.

There will be more meetings in the next few months and notice of those meetings will be provided through the media as well as through the lower-tier tax mailings.

Reid adds they also have to update the mapping using the 2015 air photos and change the definition of adjacent lands.

The Natural Heritage Plan is driven by the Provincial Policy Statement and is part of the county's official plan. She says the proposed plan is really an update of something the county has been doing for several years.
