Saugeen Shores Recreation Master Plan Complete

Saugeen Shores has a new recreation master plan which will guide council decisions for the next 15 years.

Monteith Brown Planning consultants prepared the 181 page document over the past ten months.

The report involved independent research, evaluation of recreational facilities and programing, and public input through surveys and meetings.

Recommendations include a new indoor aquatic facility and walking track, re-purposing aging facilities, expanding drop in programs, and recognizing community volunteers.

Each recommendation will be reviewed and brought to council for approval as the plan is carried out over the next several years.

"We are all very passionate about recreation in this community," says Jayne Jagelewski, director of community services with the Town of Saugeen Shores. "This passion is obvious from the tremendous response we received from the public as we completed this process. As a result of this feedback, a great plan has been created and we can begin reviewing and implementing the recommendations."
