Beautiful Joe Heritage Society Pays Debt For Meaford Dog Park

With a cheque for $4320, the Beautiful Joe Heritage Society paid off its share of the cost of setting up a leash-free park in Meaford.

Heritage Society Chair Lynda Stephens says paying the final amount of the Society’s $10,000 debt to Meaford Beautiful Joe Heritage Society was fulfilling an important obligation.

Stephens adds it also shows that society members and supporters are able to raise enough money to take on important projects like the leash-free park.

Next year, Stephens says society members will be running fundraising campaigns to raise money for several projects in or near Beautiful Joe Park. They include new plantings in the gardens and work on a mural.

They also plan to have a footbridge installed across the river from the Park to improve access to the park.

Stephens says the society’s goal is to make Meaford as famous for Beautiful Joe as Prince Edward Island is for its fictional hero, Anne of Green Gables.
