Truck Hauling Golf Carts Clocked At Over Twice The Speed Limit

A Cambridge man is facing charges after police spotted a truck speeding over twice the posted limit, while it was pulling a trailer loaded with golf carts.

Huron County Ontario Provincial Police say on Wednesday around 4:07am, officer clocked the Ford Super Duty truck speeding through the Village of Bayfield at 145 km/h. The posted speed limit in the area is 60 km/h.

When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver continued north toward Goderich. The vehicle was also driving in the oncoming lane for several kilometers while the officer followed.  Two other police cruisers were called into help before the driver finally pulled over in the south of end of Goderich.

The driver was arrested and taken to the Huron OPP detachment for breath tests.

As a result, a 27-year-old Cambridge man is now charged with impaired driving, driving a motor vehicle with over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood, dangerous driving and stunt driving. The man also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension, an additional seven-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

He has since been released with a future court date.
