Kincardine Will Block Vehicles From Driving On The Pier

Kincardine Council has voted to approve changes to both the north and south piers along Kincardine’s waterfront; changes that would see vehicles prevented from accessing or driving on the piers.

The changes come at the recommendation of the Coroner, and will include the addition of a large boulder or cement block on the south pier, and the installation of three removable posts at the entrance to the north pier.

That will prevent vehicles from driving on them while still allowing access to emergency vehicles should the need arise.

“The municipality is recommending these changes to meet the Coroner’s recommendation; he wanted us to come up with solutions that worked for us and we’re doing that,” says Karen Kieffer, director of parks and recreation for the Municipality of Kincardine.

The total cost for the changes is $8,000.
