Drug Education Forum Planned In Goderich

Huron County's Youth Justice Committee is hosting a Drug Education Forum in Goderich this Wednesday night.

Spokesperson OPP Constable Jamie Stanley says most parents and some people who work regularly with young people have no idea of the range of drugs that are available in Huron County.

Stanley says alcohol and marijuana are the two most commonly used drugs in Huron but they regularly seize quantities of things like cocaine, meth amphetamine and ecstasy to name a few.

He adds there may be a few that haven't arrived here yet but most drugs are available in Huron County.

Stanley says the goal of the forum is to educate parents about what is available, what it looks like and what signs might indicate their child is using them.

Staff from the Health Unit will also be there to help parents prevent their children from abusing alcohol.

The Drug Education Forum will start at seven o'clock Wednesday night at the Salvation Army on Suncoast Drive East in Goderich.

Stanley adds they do ask any parents planning to attend the Drug Forum to RSVP and that can be done by emailing david.duncan@start.ca.
