Huron Bruce MPP Says Staggering Amount Of Money Still Budgeted For New Green Energy Projects

Huron Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson says people have volunteered hours and hours of their time to help her figure out just where the green energy fiasco stands now.

The PC Environment Critic expects it is a staggering amount of money still to be spent on unnecessary contracts for projects yet to be built.

"I think it will be staggering when people see the amount of money that could be saved by cancelling the contracts that are in the first phase of the Large Energy Projects," she adds.

Thompson says cancelling future contracts does nothing to save money now, but will stop the wind developers from canvassing property owners in midwestern Ontario with hopes of building more turbines.

Thompson adds a planned increase will be added to hydro bills this fall, and cap and trade costs come into play in January.
