The Benmiller Inn has asked the Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh to take over the operation of the sewage treatment plant on their property.
A-C-W Reeve Ben Van Diepenbeek says the municipality is willing to do that, but adds the cost of operating the plant would go back to the Benmiller Inn and twenty or so properties in the sub-division to the west on a user-pay basis.
Van Diepenbeek also points out the plant is in need of some major repairs and the cost of that would be debentured and passed back to the users so there would be no cost to the township.
Van Diepenbeek expects council will deal with the request some time in September.
