Crashes Concern Perth County OPP

Perth County OPP had to deal with three crashes in five days, all similar in nature.

The crashes happened between July 12th and July 16th during daytime hours at intersections with stop signs. Those stop signs are on roads intersecting highways with 80 km/h speed limits. Weather conditions were also good.

Two of the crashes happened south of Stratford on Perth Rd. 113. One involved two tractor trailers which caused a diesel spill at the Perth Ln. 26 intersection. The second crash happened at the intersection of Perth Ln. 29 involving two SUV's and one of them flipped.

The third crash was south of St. Marys at the intersection of Hwy. 7 and Cobble Hills Rd. when a SUV and car collided.

People were hurt in the crashes but there were no fatalities. However, police stress there could have been due to the speeds at which the crashes happened.

In all three cases the drivers of the vehicles approaching stop signs were charged with failing to yield.

The OPP is urging motorists to pay attention to, and obey stop signs at controlled intersections.
