Huron-Bruce MPP Ready For Busy Summer

The first part of the 41st session at Queen's Park has wrapped up for the summer.

Looking back, Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson reflects on what she refers to as the Liberal Government's "back-tracking" during this past sitting of the Legislature.

"They are not in touch with the realities of business and Ontario families," says Thompson. "Cap and trade is obviously the big one as well as their intentions that will negatively affect natural gas."

Thompson is also looking forward to introducing a private members bill in late September. It will surround the use and ban of neo-nicotinoids.

"Some of the regulations are off. For instance, the manner in which they defined the certified crop advisor role really limits the number of people that can do the regulated testing in fields across the province," says Thompson.

And through the summer Thompson says she'll be keeping busy with the Commonwealth Women's Parliamentarian Organization.

"I'm finishing up my third year of a three year term this summer," she says. "We will be working and holding all kinds of information meetings and such throughout the riding to really reach out and work with our constiuents."

The Legislature resumes on September 12 at Queen's Park in Toronto.
