North Huron Considers Lease Agreement For Blyth Memorial Hall

North Huron council is considering a lease agreement regarding the Blyth Hall.

The proposal would see the municipality relinquish operation and maintenance of the facility to 14/19, the Blyth arts and cultural initiative.

CAO Sharon Chambers offered some insight.

"Council passed a motion to consider a lease agreement with 14/19 for the operation and maintenance of Memorial Hall," says Chambers. "14/19 will now assume care and control of the hall, in the past the municipality had done that and will have sub-leases with community groups for the use of that facility."

Chambers says council will still be involved with the facility but only in respect to capital replacement of things regarding the hall.

"They will take over all operational and maintenance activities, council and the municipality will be responsible for capital replacement of the facility. It's a new operating model, and a great opportunity to partner with the community."
