Grey Bruce Health Works To Reduce Children's Preventable Injuries

The Grey Bruce Health Unit is offering parents tips on how to keep children safe.
Preventable injures are the number one killer of children.
And Grey Bruce has double the rates of emergency visits due to unintentional injuries compared to the provincial average.
One of the top causes among kids is falls.
Supervision, safety gates and window guards can help prevent a tragedy.
In partnership with Parachute Canada, the health unit is marking safe kids week this week to raise awareness about preventable injuries.
“We want kids to get outside and be active, but we want them to do it safely,” says Dr. Hazel Lynn, Grey Bruce Medical Officer of Health. “Only by making safety a top priority can we reduce injuries and death. It takes all of us caring together to make it happen.”
