On Track For The 2017 International Plowing Match

The official sign for the 2017 International Plowing Match (IPM) was unveiled Saturday on the Ryan farm on County Rd. 12 in Walton.

IPM Chair Jacquie Bishop says this is sort of the official kick-off of their promotion.

She adds the volunteers and committee members are already meeting regularly, but as soon as this match in Wellington is over, then they really get serious.

"It gets real serious. We are meeting monthly and many of our committees are meeting monthly as well, to put together their passion and their desires and their engagement of this plowing match," says Bishop.

Bishop also says she's very happy with where they are right now. She says they're right where they had hoped they would be but everyone realizes the big push started when the Wellington match is over and she's confident they're ready for it.

"We are right on track, we have very passionate volunteers who step up to the plate and want to be a part and have great ideas that we wish to take through to the 2017 match," says Bishop.

Close to 300 people were on hand for the unveiling.
