Perth County OPP Stop and Look Campaign

Perth County OPP focused on intersection offences during a "Stop and Look" Campaign.

One quarter of fatal collisions in Perth County are a direct result of failing to stop or yield at intersections.

The same ratio applies to injury and property damage collisions occurring  at intersections in the county.

The week long campaign saw officers use available time patrolling all intersections, with a focus on specific intersections identified through analytics or complaints .

Officers issued 74 stop sign violations, and one traffic signal charge.

“It was surprising to see such high number of charges for a driving action that should be second nature to all motorists. We need to take our stop sign controlled intersections seriously as they are the locations where our fatal and serious injury collisions occur. This campaign first originated in Perth County in 2011 and has been adopted throughout the Province. Locally we will continue to embrace it, and use it as one of our means to keep local roadways safe.” Inspector Rob SCOTT, Perth County OPP.
