Man Arrested After Foot Chase In Owen Sound

A 26-year-old man has been arrested following a brief foot chase by police in Owen Sound.

The Owen Sound Police Service says on Thursday around 3:20am, an officer was investigating a suspicious man on 4th St. E near 9th St. E. The man allegedly attempted to give a fake name, but the officer recognized him as a suspect wanted for shoplifting at an Owen Sound store.

When the officer attempted to arrest the man, he allegedly fled. However, following a short chase, the man was apprehended.

A small quantity of crystal methamphetamine was seized during the arrest.

Christopher Heintzman, 26, of no fixed address has been charged with theft under $5,000, two counts of possession of stolen property, breach of probation and possession of a Schedule I Substance (Methamphetamine). He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
