Huron County Woman Starts Social Media Campaign After Dog Shootings

A woman who runs an animal rescue service near Wingham is taking an aggressive social media approach to help collect information about a recent dog shooting.

Three dead dogs were found northwest of Exeter on January 16.  All were shot in the head.

Jennifer Wick is behind the Facebook page and website, Exeter's Angels.

"After I finally found the person that found the dogs and spoke with them, I verified a couple of other things with some other people that I know just to make sure the story wasn't a hoax."

Wick says social media used in the right way can be helpful. And since starting the initiative other stories of animal abuse have been posted.

"Just with all of the support and everybody sharing all these stories, I decided it's a useful tool to help with other cases like this," says Wick.

The reward for information in the dog shooting case in the Exeter area is $500 for information that leads to an arrest and prosecution of those responsible.

Police are still investigating the dog shootings.
