Huron-Bruce MP Says Federal Refugee Plan Needs More

The MP for Huron-Bruce says the Liberal plan to bring Syrian refugees to Canada is mediocre at best.

Ben Lobb says all parties agreed that Canada needs to do its part to help people. But Lobb says the plan the Liberals have isn't giving the refugees a chance for a good start.

"If you look at any urban centre in Ontario there's already a housing crunch for affordable housing and affordable housing units. If you look at some of the areas in Huron and Bruce Counties, there is a very tight supply of affordable housing units as well."

Lobb says having refugees stay in military barracks and hotels is not a strategy and does not give refugees the best chance at a new start.

The federal government is planning to bring in 10,000 refugees by the end of the year and another 15,000 in the first two months of 2016.
