South Bruce On Board With Sunday Gun Hunting

Hunting with firearms on a Sunday may become a reality within the Municipality of South Bruce.

South Bruce Council passed a motion at Tuesday night's regular council meeting in favour of the Sunday hunt, something Mayor Robert Buckle says is fairly commonplace in other municipalities.

"It is all around us, except for one municipality which is West Grey, they do not permit it," says Buckle.

While current Sunday hunting laws do not permit the use of firearms on a Sunday within South Bruce, the use of archery is still permitted.

Representatives from the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters had made a previous request to council to consider the possibility of having Sunday gun hunting permitted within the jurisdiction.

Council is expected to notify the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry to have the municipality added to the list of those that currently allow gun hunting on a Sunday.
