Goderich Council Approves New Ag. Park Plans

Goderich council has approved a fairly ambitious plan for renovating the Agricultural Park.

Mayor Kevin Morrison says it was an emotional decision because it excludes the Trotters Association, but he adds it's something that's been needed for a long time.

Morrison notes the plan presented by the Agricultural Park Ad-Hoc Committee calls for three ball diamonds, a soccer pitch, a turf field for ball hockey, a skateboard park and a playground area.

The committee pointed out that many Goderich teams have to play their homes games out of town because the fields in town are not acceptable.

Morrison says staff will now sit down with the committee and work out the details  The project will be included in the 2016 budget deliberations.

The estimated cost for the renovation is about $2.5-million, but Morrison adds it's quite likely that will go higher.  Ad-hoc committee members believe they, and the users of the park, can raise the money.
