Phase 1 Of Road Re-construction In Harriston Almost Finished

The reconstruction of Elora and Arthur Streets in Harriston continues, as Phase 1 of the project is near completion says Bill White, the Town of Minto CAO and clerk.

According to White, all that remains for the 1st phase, which is from Arthur Street to the edge of town, is for some sidewalks and curbs to be finished, as well as some boulevard and driveway restorations. There is also pavement line painting and trees to be planted, and a few other minor touches.

It has yet to be decided whether Minto council will hold off on Phase 2 until after winter, but White says that it is likely it will be left until spring.   This phase involves Arthur Street north to William Street.

The project is currently on budget, but White made note of the fact that council decided to fully replace the sidewalks and curbs instead of simply refurbishing them. This has yet to be factored into the final cost, which may push the project slightly over budget.

The entire project is roughly 2 million in total estimated cost, including the County Road portion.
