United Way Owen Sound Fire Victims Fund Tops $200,000

Bruce Power employees have raised over $14,000 to help the victims of an arson spree in Owen Sound.

Workers supported the fundraising drive yesterday for the Owen Sound Fire Victims Fund.

The company also donated $12,000 to assist the 15 families left homeless after a string of early morning fires August 10th. in the St. Mary's Hill area.

President and CEO Duncan Hawthorne also make a personal donation of $10,000. to the fund

The money will help provide food, shelter and clothing to the families impacted by the fire.

The United Way of Bruce Grey says over $200,000. has been raised so far for the victims.

“The generosity of our employees never ceases to amaze me,” Hawthorne said. “Before we even began planning this fundraiser, I received numerous messages from staff encouraging us to hold

this collection for the fire victims in Owen Sound. People simply could not wait to help these members of our community in their time of need.”
