Owen Sound Mayor Says City Focused On Passion

Owen Sound's mayor is praising first responders for the work this past week after fires burned down multiple homes in the city.

Ian Boddy says the Owen Sound Police Service worked quickly and officers came in on days off, from sick leave and holidays for 18-hour shifts to find the suspects in the arson case. Boddy says the focus for the city is to help the victims get back on their feet and the Crown will deal with the matters in front of the court.

There are multiple charitable events and fundraisers being set up over the weeks to help the families left homeless.

Victim Services says 41 people are homeless after Monday's fires and that includes 12 children under the age of 18.

The Bruce-Grey United Way is also an organization that you can contact to make donations.
