Environment Canada investigators have determined it was a tornado that ripped through Teviotdale Sunday night.
The forecasting agency has issued a statement that says winds up to 220 kilometres per hour blew through Teviotdale, Wellington North, Mapleton and Minto, leaving a trail of damage almost nine kilometres long.
There were no injuries or fatalities as high winds and heavy rain blasted through the region about 9 p.m. Sunday.
Wellington North Mayor Andy Lennox says property damage in his municiplaity included farms and two barns.
Mapleton Mayor Neil Driscoll says property damage reports are still coming in.
OPP Constable Mary Lou Scwindt says four cruisers parked at the Tevitodale detachement were damaged as well as four barns and two homes.
There were numerous calls about damage and downed lines
Some people who may have been away and don't know of any specific damage are being asked to take a walk around their porperty when they get home and report any damage
Officials are asking people to stay off closed roads in Minto, Wellington North and Mapleton as clean up from the storm continues.
