Huron Perth Health Care Sees New Funding

Three of the four Huron-Perth Healthcare Alliance hospitals will benefit from the funding announced Monday by the province.

CEO Andrew Williams explains the funding amounts to an additional one per cent of base funding for northern and rural hospitals, which in the alliance includes the hospitals in Clinton, Seaforth and St. Marys.

Williams adds that translates into about $237,000.

He says it's a funding announcement that has been made every year for the past few years, but not something hospitals can budget for in advance.

Williams also points out it doesn't equal the increase in the costs for hospital but it does strengthen their position financially and they're very grateful for that.

Williams adds the Huron-Perth Healthcare Alliance has not yet had to consider cutting program but points out the financial pressures on hospitals over the last few years has been significant so they do have to very closely watch every dollar they spend.
