Perth OPP Traffic Initiative Results

Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were busy from June 26 through Canada Day enforcing a provincial led traffic initiative.

Officers also responded to nine crashes -- two at intersections where drivers failed to stop, four other minor collisions, three parking lot fender benders and two car deer collisions.

There were 108 drivers ticketed for speeding.

One racing charge, eight distracted driving charges and five seatbelt charges were also laid.

Other charges included seven hazardous moving offences, nine other HTA offences, two liquor licence act, three compulsory automobile insurance act and two warn range suspensions.

"We would like to thank the motoring public for their continued assistance calling in offending motorists who are a danger to themselves and others. Several of those complaints resulted in our officers being able to stop the offending drivers and issue appropriate warnings or charges," says Staff Sergeant Joel Skelding of the Perth County OPP.
