Beach Street Restaurant Opens In Goderich

Herb Marshall finally got a break.

It was almost two years ago that the former CPR station at the foot of West St. in Goderich was moved to its new home on the Lake Huron Shoreline.

Since then, the process of converting the station into a restaurant has provided Marshall with just about every challenge he could imagine and a few he didn't see coming.

But today, the Beach Street Restaurant officially opened at 4pm.

Marshall says they currently have seating for about 100 inside and about 75 on the patio outside, and he's got about four days of beautiful summer weather in the forecast.

Marshall describes his feelings now as cautiously excited and adds he'll probably be less cautious later tonight after they're open. Marshall says they'll start with an opening day menu for three or four days, and then expand to a full menu by July 15.

The Beach Street Station employs about 35 people.
