Huron Bruce MPP Petitions For Improved Repatriation Laws For Sick Citizens

Huron Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson wants the province to update legislation after a Kincardine resident passed away following a month-long wait to be brought home.

She presented a petition at Queen's Park asking for a comprehensive strategy to help get all people who fall ill outside Ontario back home.

Thompson says all Ontarians need to be treated fairly, no matter where they fall ill.

Thompson calls the current repatriation laws in Ontario "very unclear."

"Over the past few months my office has been actively trying to find answers of what went wrong in this tragic situation. It is still not clear and the ministry isn't answering our questions. I will continue to petition and reach out to the minister directly until we find the answers and do right by this family. We need to ensure this never happens again," says Thompson.
