Bruce Power Tours Resume This Summer

The off-limits Bruce Power site will be opened up to the public once again this summer.

The company has announced it will be running guided bus tours of the world's largest nuclear site this summer after successfully testing the tour program last year.

Manager of Investor and Media Relations John Peevers says they were so overwhelmed by the response last year, they ended up adding extra tour dates, which they will do again this year.

"We had two days a week last year, which we ended up stretching to three days a week. This year, we're planning for that positive response to continue, so we're looking at three days a week (Tuesday,Wednesday and Thursday), three tours a day, starting July 2nd," says Peevers.

He says people will learn about the current operations at the Bruce Power site, as well as get an up-close look at the historic Douglas Point, Canada's first commercial nuclear reactor.

Peevers says anybody interested in taking a tour will need bring to pre-register using their online service, once it is up and running. In the meantime, they can register by calling 1-866-748-4787 or e-mailing info@brucepower.com.
