Wellington's Rural Romp Highlights Local Food

There may be a lot of people "romping" through parts of Wellington County tomorrow.

The Annual Spring Wellington Rural Romp highlights local food and agriculture.

The one-day event gives visitors a taste of local food, and an opportunity to learn the story behind food production.

A total of fifteen farms, markets, gardens and restaurants in Mapleton, Minto and Wellington North will open their doors for self-guided tour that runs from 10am to 4pm tomorrow.

To download a copy of the Rural Romp Guide, visit www.tastereal.ca.

Inspired by Wellington North’s Butter Tart Trail, the Rural Romp is hosting its own Butter Tart Challenge. Eight participating Rural Romp locations will offer their own unique butter tarts or butter tart-inspired desserts.

Participants are encouraged to taste and share their butter tart-related photos on Facebook or Twitter using #SpringRomp15.

Rompers are also encouraged to be part of the Spring Romp Photo Contest. Prizes will be awarded for the best photo in three different categories: farmscapes, family fun and food.

For more information on the photo contest, visit www.tastereal.ca.
