The relationship between Bruce Power and its host communities has been made official.
The nuclear power generator has signed memorandums of understanding with Kincardine and Saugeen Shores councils, formalizing relationships that started when Bruce Power formed in 2001.
Vice President of Corporate Affairs James Scongack says the MOU's will provide structure for all sides to be able to communicate with the public on joint initiatives being developed.
With employees retiring and new recruits relocating to the area, Scongack says it's important to keep working on projects that ensure the communities remain attractive destinations.
"We also want to make sure that as we try to attract employees, that we look at things like spousal employment, what is the education system in the area look like, is there access to good health care? Those are the things that are important when you're trying to attract people to the area," says Scongack.
He adds examples of past initiatives include the ongoing joint physician recruitment efforts and the development of nuclear emergency response plans.
